On May 19^th, members of ZJU-UoE JRCEB held an online meeting regarding the collaborative development of the JRCEB and innovative cooperation mechanism in the post-epidemic era.

Both ZJU and UoE sides of JRCEB agreed to jointly promote the undergraduate program of biotechnology major by making efforts to push this initiative at the university level, thus promoting the sustainable development of the JRCEB. Both also agreed to hold a joint symposium online for staff and graduate students, provisionally scheduled in autumn. Overall, both agreed it was crucial to strengthen cooperation in fields such as bioengineering, to provide joint training for students, and to expand multi-level cooperation to meet the global challenges of the post-epidemic era.

Participants included Prof. PENG Jinrong, Dean of College of Life Sciences, Zhejiang University (CLS, ZJU); Prof. CHENG Lei and Prof. YU Luyang, Deputy Deans of CLS, ZJU; Prof. SHOU Huixia, ZJU's Representative of the JRCEB; Prof. David Gray, Head of School of Biological Sciences, University of Edinburgh (SBS, UoE); Prof. Peter Doerner, UoE's Representative of the JRCEB; and Prof. Christopher French, SBS, UoE.

Zhejiang University and University of Edinburgh Joint Research Centre for Engineering Biology (ZJU-UoE JRCEB) is established in 2019, aiming to build research partnerships to serve as a base for technology transfer, product delivery, and a joint student training program in the areas of biotechnology and bioengineering.
