On March 24, Professor Moshe Szyf, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Tenured Professor at McGill University, and a founding figure in epigenetics, was invited to visit College of Life Sciences and deliver an academic lecture.

Professor Szyf is widely recognized as a pioneer in international epigenetics research. He has long dedicated his work to investigating DNA methylation and its role in cancer pathogenesis, and was among the first to establish a causal relationship between aberrant DNA methylation and cancer. He holds one of the earliest patents for a DNA methylation-based therapeutic drug for cancer and has published extensively in top-tier journals, including Nature and PNAS, Nature Neuroscience.

During the lecture, he systematically elaborated on the broad prospects of DNA methylation in disease prevention, early detection, and treatment, and presented the latest cutting-edge research achievements of his team. The lecture was met with an enthusiastic response from the attending faculty and students.

Following the lecture, Professor Szyf and the college engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including scientific research collaboration and personnel training, and reached a tentative understanding on the establishment of a regular cooperation mechanism. This visit has further strengthened the exchange and interaction between both sides, laying a solid foundation for expanding international collaboration and advancing deep-going cooperation in the field of life sciences.
