The Key Laboratory for Cell and Gene Engineering of Zhejiang Province was established in the college of life sciences, Zhejiang University in 1995.

The lab owns three Provincial Key Disciplines in Botany, Genetics and Microbiology. The lab receives research funds from National Natural Science Foundation, National Science/Technology research and development programs, international cooperative research programs, and research programs from local governments and enterprises. Annual research budget of the lab is around 10 million RMB and annual publications in SCI are above 100. A haystack of scientific papers produced from the lab has been published in the international top journals of the field, including Nature, Science, PNAS, Plant Cell, Nature Communications, Plant J, Molecular Cell, RNA, Lancet, J Immunology and so on.
